This was their goal. Too many "outsiders" here, they want fewer.
The tourists and local adapted pretty quickly, as did the county government. The church lost their property tax exemption on their newly productive land, and the locals started parking on the street on the little cut through behind our building.

If it's about solarpunk, have a look into #Meshcore #Meshtastic and #ReticulumNetwork.
They have very low requirements by default (e.g. 5 bps (!) bandwidth), but the overall network does profit from high storage or high bandwidth nodes, with added services (RRC Chat, NomadNet website). And they are especially useful when other networks fail.

There were legitimate uses for asbestos (it's effective at stopping fire spreading in buildings and appliances), but the harm it caused was far worse.
The way to stop LLMs is to force them to pay for the externalities they cause: the environmental damage, the deskilling they encourage, the labour they steal etc. They need to be made to pay for all of this, which will leave them uneconomical. Someone has to pay for this damage, it should be the companies that cause it.
